A Romulan ship falls to the same mysterious vessel seen attacking the Klingons. On the Cerritos, Mariner wrongly believes Commander Ransom plans to demote her, so she goes out of her way to be insubordinate on an away mission to rescue two humans kept on display in an alien menagerie run by Narj. Things fall apart when a Moopsy escapes: a small, fluffy creature that can only say its own name and drinks the bones of its prey. With the zoo in chaos, Ransom shows faith in Mariner, and the two of them work together to recapture the creature, using Ransom's lost teeth as bait. Back on the ship, Rutherford worries that his friendship with Tendi will suffer now that she has been promoted and he has not. After Tendi nudges Billups, and a brand-new engineer is promoted on the spot, Rutherford finally gets his own promotion simply by asking.

DID YOU KNOW?

  1. 01The title is a parody of Harlan Ellison's short story “I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream”. Ellison also wrote the original series episode “The City on the Edge of Forever”.
  2. 02The Moopsy looks harmless and can only say its own name, but it sprouts fangs and liquefies the bones of its victims before drinking them.
  3. 03The cold open continues the season's mystery, as the unidentified ship from “Twovix” destroys a Romulan vessel.
