An Orion captain offers Archer a lucrative mining deal and a gift of three dancing women, and before long the crew begin behaving very strangely.
Red alert: the full plot, ending included. Haven't watched yet?REVEAL SYNOPSIS
Orion captain Harrad-Sar proposes a joint mining venture and, as a gesture of goodwill, presents Archer with three Orion women, supposedly slaves. Once aboard, the women give off pheromones that make the men aggressive and easily manipulated, while the women of the crew suffer headaches. Tucker is unaffected, apparently protected by his telepathic bond with T'Pol. The Orion women secretly work with Harrad-Sar to sabotage the ship, and it emerges that the deal was a trap to capture Archer for the Orion Syndicate. Tucker and T'Pol take charge, subduing affected crew members and using the deflector to disable the Orion ship, and the women are sent back. It turns out the women, not their supposed master, hold the real power among the Orions. Afterwards, Tucker and T'Pol finally speak openly about their relationship.
- 01It revisits the green-skinned Orion slave women first glimpsed in the original pilot, “The Cage”.
- 02The actresses spent four to five hours a day in green make-up. Travis Payne oversaw the dance choreography.
- 03It establishes that Orion women dominate their society, contradicting earlier Star Trek portrayals.
