With the embryos in their hands and a stolen Klingon ship, the Augments must decide what kind of future they want, and Soong may not like the answer.
Red alert: the full plot, ending included. Haven't watched yet?REVEAL SYNOPSIS
The Augments flee Cold Station 12 aboard their stolen Bird-of-Prey with 1,800 embryos. Soong plans to hide in the Briar Patch and raise a new generation, but Malik wants more. He proposes launching a pathogen-filled torpedo at a Klingon colony to start a war between the Klingons and Earth. When Soong refuses, Malik turns the other Augments against him and locks him up. Persis helps Soong escape in a pod, and Enterprise picks him up. Malik kills Persis for her betrayal. Enterprise chases the Augments to the Qu'vat colony and destroys the torpedo before it strikes. Malik destroys his own ship, killing the remaining Augments and embryos, then beams aboard Enterprise to kill Soong, and Archer kills Malik. Back in custody, Soong decides genetic engineering may not be the answer, and turns his thoughts to cybernetics.
- 01Reunites Star Trek: The Next Generation colleagues LeVar Burton, directing, and Brent Spiner. A catered lunch marked the final day of shooting.
- 02Malik's last moments on the Bird-of-Prey deliberately echo Khan's final scene in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.
- 03The Augments hide in the Briar Patch, the region later seen in Star Trek: Insurrection, and the episode suggests Soong named it.
