Red alert: the full plot, ending included. Haven't watched yet?REVEAL SYNOPSIS
Archer and the Xindi scientist Degra flee an Insectoid prison camp in a stolen shuttle, apparently after three years of captivity. Degra's memory loss is blamed on bloodworms used by his captors to extract the truth. In fact the whole scenario is an elaborate deception: the two are in a simulator aboard Enterprise in December 2153, and every detail has been staged by Archer's crew to win Degra's trust and learn where the Xindi weapon is being built. Degra opens up about his family and begins entering navigational coordinates, but spots a glitch in a window display and attacks Archer. Archer then tries a second trick, persuading Degra that Enterprise has used stolen Xindi technology to open a subspace vortex and has already reached the coordinates. Degra's insistence that the base's defences are impenetrable confirms its importance. Degra and his crew have their memories wiped before being returned to their own ship.
- 01Terry Matalas, who later became showrunner of “Star Trek: Picard”, provided the story, his second for Enterprise after “Impulse”.
- 02It follows directly on from “Proving Ground”, and Archer shares with Degra the Andorian ale that Shran had given him.
- 03Thalen returns in “Azati Prime”, though there he is played by Christopher Goodman rather than Josh Drennen.
