Enterprise meets ships full of pilgrims travelling to see the Great Plume of Agosoria, a stellar event they consider sacred, and Archer invites some of them aboard. During a tour, one pilgrim secretly sabotages an engine junction before revealing himself as Suliban. When a plasma storm strikes, the damage paradoxically saves the ship from an antimatter cascade. Crewman Daniels, an apparently ordinary steward, then tells Archer that he is an agent from the 31st century, hunting Silik, who is hiding among the pilgrims. Daniels asks for access to the ship's sensors. Silik in turn confronts Archer, insisting that Daniels is the one who cannot be trusted. Silik then attacks Daniels, apparently killing him. Using Daniels's future technology, Archer tracks Silik to a shuttle bay, where after a struggle the Suliban escapes into space, leaving Archer unsure whom to believe.
- 01Matt Winston makes his first appearance as Daniels. He is the son of special effects artist Stan Winston.
- 02Director Robert Duncan McNeill, Tom Paris in Voyager, asked Rick Berman to let him direct as soon as possible.
- 03Writers Stephen Beck and Tim Finch had been executive story editors on UPN's Seven Days.
