Red alert: the full plot, ending included. Haven't watched yet?REVEAL SYNOPSIS
Enterprise travels to Terra Nova, humanity's first deep-space colony, which cut off contact with Earth seventy years earlier after a dispute over new settlers. The away team finds deadly radiation levels and an abandoned town. Below ground live the descendants of the colonists, who call themselves Novans. Raised on stories that Earth attacked them, they distrust the newcomers and take Reed captive. Archer's team learns the truth: an asteroid impact, not Earth, poisoned the surface and killed the original adults, while the children survived underground. Phlox finds that the elder Nadet has a radiation-induced cancer, and old records reveal she was a colonist's daughter, which helps win the Novans' trust. Archer realises that taking them back to Earth would cost them their identity. Instead he persuades them to move to uncontaminated caverns in the planet's southern hemisphere.
- 01Directed by LeVar Burton, Geordi La Forge in The Next Generation, the first Enterprise episode directed by a Star Trek actor.
- 02The only Enterprise writing credit for Antoinette Stella, a producer during the first half of season one.
- 03Brannon Braga has called it his least favourite episode of Enterprise, describing it as boring.
