Enterprise discovers a Minshara-class world, the first truly Earth-like planet the crew has found, and Archer agrees to let a survey team camp overnight. T'Pol, Tucker, Mayweather and crewmen Cutler and Novakovich set up camp, but a violent storm drives them into a cave. There they start seeing figures moving in the darkness. Novakovich panics, runs out into the storm and is beamed aboard badly injured by the transporter. Phlox finds that the cave holds a hallucinogenic pollen which causes fear and paranoia. Tucker grows convinced that T'Pol is plotting against them and holds her at gunpoint, while the others weaken. With the storm blocking any rescue, Reed works out an antidote that can be made from supplies in the cave, and Archer talks Tucker down over the communicator. T'Pol gives the antidote, and by morning the storm has passed and everyone recovers.
