Light and Shadows

A rift in time opens near Kaminar. Pike and Tyler, who do not trust each other, take a shuttle to investigate and are caught inside it, experiencing moments out of order. A probe sent into the rift returns changed, and turns on the shuttle and then on Discovery. Burnham, meanwhile, goes home to Vulcan and discovers that Amanda has been hiding Spock in a sanctuary, barely responsive and endlessly repeating a string of numbers. Sarek insists that Spock must be handed over, and Burnham agrees to take him to Section 31 for treatment. When she learns Leland plans to probe Spock's mind in a way that could destroy it, she escapes with him, aided by Georgiou. Pike and Tyler set aside their differences and are rescued, but the probe leaves something behind in Airiam. Burnham realises that Spock's numbers, read in reverse, are coordinates for Talos IV.
