When a mobster muscles in on Vic Fontaine's Las Vegas lounge, the crew plans a 1960s casino heist, but Sisko has his own reasons for staying away.
Red alert: the full plot, ending included. Haven't watched yet?REVEAL SYNOPSIS
Vic Fontaine's holosuite lounge is suddenly taken over by Frankie Eyes, a gangster from Vic's past, who buys the hotel and fires him. Frankie turns out to be a hidden twist planted in the programme by its creator, and he can only be removed by the programme's own rules, without losing Vic. The crew decides to rob the casino so that Frankie cannot pay his share to mob boss Zeemo. Sisko refuses to take part: he objects that the programme's 1962 Las Vegas glosses over the racism Black people faced. Kasidy argues that Vic's place shows how things could have been, and Sisko joins in. Everyone has a role, from Kira charming Frankie and Sisko playing a high roller to Odo posing as a serving tray and Nog cracking the safe. A different lock than expected and Zeemo's early arrival force some quick thinking, but the heist succeeds. Vic's lounge is restored, and Sisko joins him on stage to sing.
- 01Filmed after “Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges”, but the two were swapped because Paramount was impressed with this episode and wanted it to air during February sweeps.
- 02Art director Randy McIlvain drew on the 1960 Rat Pack film Ocean's 11 and on Viva Las Vegas for the episode's look.
- 03Avery Brooks sings a full song, “The Best Is Yet to Come”, for the first time in the series.
