Bashir's genetically enhanced friends return with a bold request: help Sarina, the silent member of their group, break out of her isolation.
Red alert: the full plot, ending included. Haven't watched yet?REVEAL SYNOPSIS
The genetically enhanced group from “Statistical Probabilities”, Jack, Lauren, Patrick and Sarina, turn up at the station, having posed as a Starfleet admiral and his staff to get there. They want Bashir to try to cure Sarina, who has been almost completely catatonic. With their help he refines a medical instrument, and the operation is a success: Sarina speaks and engages with the world for the first time, and within minutes she is mastering complex music. Bashir falls for her, hands her care to another doctor so he can pursue her, and they begin a romance. But Sarina retreats into silence again, first when Jack dismisses her opinions and then when Bashir invites her to dinner. She finally explains that she has felt pressured to repay him for curing her by becoming the woman of his dreams. In the end, Sarina leaves the station to take up a scientific internship.
- 01Faith C. Salie had to re-audition for Sarina, a role she already had, because the character now had dialogue.
- 02Tim Ransom (Jack) was found to be tone-deaf and his singing had to be dubbed. Salie, with a musical theatre background, loved the experience.
