The crew discover a new holosuite programme set in a 1960s Las Vegas lounge, starring the singer Vic Fontaine, a hologram who knows exactly what he is. Vic quickly sees that Odo is in love with Kira but too afraid to say so. He takes Odo in hand, urging him to relax and have some fun, and sets up a double date in which Odo practises on Lola, a holographic copy of Kira. Odo finds the copy hollow and walks out. Vic then tricks the real Kira into a romantic dinner with Odo, who is so mortified when the truth comes out that he flees. The next day Kira confronts him and insists they talk properly. She clears up any doubt about her old relationship with Shakaar, and Odo finally kisses her. Later, Odo goes back to the lounge to thank Vic.
