Grilka, the Klingon noblewoman Quark was once briefly married to, arrives at Deep Space Nine. Worf is instantly smitten, but her adviser Tumek tells him that his dishonour rules him out as a suitor. Quark, meanwhile, hopes to win Grilka for himself and turns to Dax for help with Klingon courtship. Worf reluctantly joins in, coaching Quark through holosuite battles and Klingon customs. When Grilka's bodyguard Thopok challenges Quark to combat, Worf controls Quark's every move through a hidden remote-control device, and Quark defeats him with a bat'leth. Grilka is won over by Quark, and when Worf complains to Dax that Quark is unworthy of her, Dax points out that his interest was shallow and makes her own feelings plain. Meanwhile Kira, carrying the O'Briens' baby, and Miles feel an attraction growing between them. When Keiko asks Miles to escort Kira on a romantic trip to Bajor, he backs out, and Kira goes to visit her own partner instead.
