Red alert: the full plot, ending included. Haven't watched yet?REVEAL SYNOPSIS
When Bajor's First Minister dies, Kai Winn becomes interim leader. She asks Kira to persuade Shakaar, the leader of her old resistance cell and now a farmer, to give up soil reclamators so that Rakantha Province can grow crops for export. Shakaar refuses: his farmers need the equipment to feed their own people. When he will not compromise, Winn orders his arrest, and Kira helps Shakaar and his old comrades Lupaza and Furel escape into the hills where they once hid from the Cardassians. Sisko refuses Winn's request for Starfleet help. As the militia closes in, Kira and Shakaar find they cannot fire on fellow Bajorans, and talks with Colonel Lenaris end the standoff. Shakaar announces he will stand for First Minister, and Winn drops out of the race rather than see her part in nearly causing a civil war exposed. On the station, O'Brien enjoys a remarkable winning streak at darts.
