Red alert: the full plot, ending included. Haven't watched yet?REVEAL SYNOPSIS
Odo and Kira pursue a Maquis raider to an isolated moon and split up to search for its crew. Odo finds Kira with her foot caught in a crystal that is slowly growing over her body. As seismic tremors increase and every attempt to free her fails, Kira urges him to leave, and Odo finally confesses that he loves her. When she says she loves him too, Odo grows suspicious and demands the truth. The figure becomes the Female Changeling, who staged the whole ordeal to understand what keeps Odo among the solids and lure him home. She tells him where the real Kira is and leaves. Odo rescues Kira but keeps his confession to himself. On the station, Nog asks Sisko to recommend him for Starfleet Academy. Sisko doubts his motives until Nog explains that he does not want to end up like his undervalued father. Sisko agrees, and Rom stands up to Quark to back his son.
- 01Salome Jens agreed to be credited only in the closing titles, so the Female Changeling's appearance would stay a surprise.
- 02Aron Eisenberg later said Nog's scene with Sisko about his father was his favourite scene in the series.
- 03The cast disliked the crystal prop. Nana Visitor joked that she looked like a hot fudge sundae, with her head as the cherry on top.
