A drunken Klingon named Kozak falls on his own knife during a scuffle with Quark and dies. Seeing a chance to boost trade, Quark lets everyone believe he killed Kozak in honourable combat. Kozak's widow, Grilka, learns the truth and whisks Quark off to the Klingon homeworld, where she marries him so that he can head her house and keep it out of the hands of Kozak's rival D'Ghor. Quark studies the house's accounts and finds that D'Ghor has been ruining it through dishonourable financial schemes. When Quark exposes this before the High Council, D'Ghor challenges him to a duel. Quark throws down his weapon and declares that killing him would be an execution, not a fight. Gowron, disgusted, disgraces D'Ghor and allows Grilka to lead her house herself, and she grants Quark a grateful divorce. Meanwhile Keiko, her school closed, finds new purpose on Bajor.
- 01Mary Kay Adams makes her first appearance as Grilka, Quark's Klingon wife.
- 02To save money, only half of the Great Hall set was built and redressed between shots to stand in for the whole.
