Four years after the battle of Wolf 359, Sisko is still grieving for Jennifer when he meets Fenna, a mysterious woman who appears while he is looking out at the stars. He is drawn to her, the first time he has felt this way since his loss, but Odo can find no record of her. The famous terraformer Gideon Seyetik arrives on the Prometheus, planning to reignite a dead star, and Sisko is stunned to meet his wife, Nidell, who looks exactly like Fenna but does not know him. After Fenna vanishes in his arms, Dax works out that she is a telepathic projection created by Nidell's unconscious mind. Nidell is deeply unhappy, but her species mates for life, and the projection is now killing her. Seyetik realises the truth and flies into the star himself to set it alight, freeing his wife. Nidell recovers with no memory of Fenna.
