Red alert: the full plot, ending included. Haven't watched yet?REVEAL SYNOPSIS
As Bajoran forces loyal to the Circle approach, Sisko evacuates the station's civilians and Starfleet personnel, then hides in its corridors with a few officers to wage a guerrilla campaign against General Krim's troops. Odo's shape-shifting helps the defenders stay out of sight. Kira and Dax fly towards Bajor carrying proof of Cardassian involvement, but crash-land and must make their way to Bareil's monastery. Disguised as clerics, they reach the Chamber of Ministers and reveal the evidence. Jaro's coup collapses, and Krim hands the station back to Sisko. In a final act of treachery, Colonel Day tries to kill Sisko, but Li Nalas steps in front of the shot and dies. With Day arrested and the Cardassian plot exposed, the Circle's support crumbles, and Li is mourned as a true hero.
- 01Peter Allan Fields disagreed with killing Li Nalas, feeling it undercut the trilogy. Ira Steven Behr defended the death as Li's redemption through sacrifice.
- 02The palukoo spider was a garage sale find costing about two dollars, given motors and hair by the effects team and kept brief on screen.
- 03Director Winrich Kolbe felt the storyline could have been told in two episodes rather than three.
