A former Bajoran terrorist seeks asylum on the station, and Major Kira must decide where her loyalties now lie, while Dr Bashir meets a very talkative Cardassian tailor.
Red alert: the full plot, ending included. Haven't watched yet?REVEAL SYNOPSIS
The station rescues Tahna Los, a Bajoran fleeing a Cardassian warship. Once a member of the extremist Kohn-Ma, he asks for asylum and says he has given up violence. Major Kira, who fought beside him in the resistance, speaks up for him, but Odo watches him meet secretly with the Klingon Duras sisters, Lursa and B'Etor. Meanwhile Garak, the station's only Cardassian resident and its tailor, draws an eager Dr Bashir into the intrigue. The sisters are selling Tahna bilitrium, which he plans to combine with a stolen Cardassian device to build a bomb. Torn between her past and her Starfleet post, Kira reports what she knows to Sisko, then goes with Tahna aboard a runabout as his supposed ally. His real target is the wormhole, which he hopes to collapse so that outsiders lose interest in Bajor. Kira ensures the bomb explodes harmlessly, and Tahna surrenders.
- 01Garak's first appearance. Andrew Robinson had earlier been a finalist for the role of Odo before being invited to audition for Garak.
- 02Producer Peter Allan Fields made Garak a tailor as a nod to The Man from U.N.C.L.E., where a tailor's shop hid the secret headquarters.
- 03Aired second but filmed third, after “A Man Alone”. The title comes from Shakespeare's The Tempest: “what's past is prologue”.
