To cross a deadly nebula the crew must go into stasis for a month, leaving Seven of Nine and the Doctor to run the ship alone.
Red alert: the full plot, ending included. Haven't watched yet?REVEAL SYNOPSIS
Voyager must cross a vast nebula whose radiation is lethal to organic life, and one crewman dies before the danger is understood. Janeway puts the crew into stasis for the month-long journey. Only the Doctor and Seven, who is immune, are left to run the ship. Seven at first welcomes the solitude, but when the Doctor's mobile emitter fails she is truly alone for the first time since being cut off from the Collective. As systems break down she begins to hallucinate: an alien trader called Trajis Lo-Tarik who seems to threaten the ship, members of the crew who mock her, and a Borg drone who tells her she cannot survive alone. Drawing power from every system she can, Seven keeps the ship moving and finally collapses. Voyager clears the nebula, the crew wake safely, and Seven accepts their invitation to join them.
- 01The story grew from a pitch by James Swallow called “Perchance to Dream”, originally about the Doctor.
- 02Kenneth Biller directed his second Star Trek episode.
- 03The stasis chamber room was a redressed cargo bay set, using stasis units from “The Thaw” and “Resolutions”.
