Voyager is carrying a group of Enarans back to their homeworld. Each night Torres dreams that she is Korenna, a young Enaran woman in love with Dathan, one of the Regressives, who reject modern technology. The dreams are telepathic memories, sent by the elderly passenger Jora Mirell, who was once Korenna. As they continue, Torres sees the history the Enarans have buried: the Regressives were not resettled but rounded up and executed. Korenna herself gave Dathan away to the authorities, and joined the crowd at his execution. Jora dies soon after passing on her final memories. Torres insists that the Enarans face their past, but they deny it, and Janeway will not interfere in their affairs. In the end Torres persuades a young Enaran, Jessen, to receive the memories through a telepathic link, so the truth will not die with Jora.
- 01Brannon Braga and Joe Menosky first conceived the story for Troi on The Next Generation. Lisa Klink later adapted it for Torres on Voyager.
- 02Roxann Dawson considered it probably the episode she was most proud of from her time on the series.
- 03Bruce Davison, who plays Korenna's father Jareth, later appeared in the Enterprise episode “The Seventh”.
