The Inner Fight

The mysterious vessel appears to be going after former Starfleet officers, and the Cerritos is sent to find and protect ex-cadet Nick Locarno. Worried about Mariner's reckless behaviour, Freeman assigns her to a simple repair job with Tendi, T'Lyn and Boimler, but a Klingon ship, the Che'Ta, destroys their shuttle. On the planet below they find the senior officers of the missing ships, abandoned after their lower decks crews mutinied and joined the mysterious vessel. Mariner fights the Che'Ta's former captain, Ma'ah, until a storm forces them to shelter together. There she admits she has been lashing out since her friend Sito Jaxa died on a covert mission, and Ma'ah helps her see that her feelings can drive her to do what is right. She persuades the captains to work together, but is suddenly beamed away. Freeman finds the vessel's schematics in Locarno's home, and Mariner wakes aboard it, face to face with Locarno.
