Archer and Shran travel to Andoria to find the Aenar, a blind, pacifist and telepathic subspecies of Andorians who live hidden beneath the ice. They learn that an Aenar named Gareb has been kidnapped and is being forced to pilot the Romulan drone ships with his mind. His sister Jhamel volunteers to help, and the Enterprise crew build a makeshift telepresence unit so she can reach him. When two Romulan drones attack, Jhamel makes contact with her brother and shows him that the Aenar still exist, exposing the Romulans' lies. Gareb turns the drones against each other and destroys both, before Admiral Valdore kills him in anger. Meanwhile, Tucker, finding his unspoken feelings for T'Pol too distracting, requests a transfer to the new starship Columbia.
