Saints of Imperfection

Tilly has been pulled into the mycelial network. Burnham and Stamets realise that the only way to reach her is to take Discovery partly into the network itself, a dangerous manoeuvre that risks the ship. A Section 31 vessel arrives hunting Spock, bringing Captain Leland, an old friend of Pike's, and Georgiou, whose new role leaves Burnham uneasy. Inside the network, Tilly learns that May wants help to defeat a monster that is harming her world. Burnham and Stamets cross over to find her, and the monster turns out to be Hugh Culber, kept alive in the network since his death and fighting to survive among its inhabitants. Using May's cocoon, the crew rebuild his body and bring him back aboard just before the passage closes, with Section 31's help. Tilly returns safely, Stamets and Culber are reunited, and Ash Tyler joins Discovery as Section 31's liaison.
