Business as Usual

Struggling with money, Quark joins his cousin Gaila in working for the arms dealer Hagath. Using the holosuites to demonstrate weapons while the real cargo changes hands elsewhere, Quark turns out to be a natural salesman, though his friends, especially Dax, turn cold towards him. Then the Regent of Palamar arrives wanting weapons to wipe out the followers of his rival, General Nassuc. Appalled, Quark looks for a way to stop the deal, and secretly arranges for Nassuc to turn up at the Regent's meeting in a cargo bay. The Regent is killed, the genocide is averted, and Gaila and Hagath flee with Nassuc's forces after them. Quark makes peace with Dax but is left owing money for the damage. In a lighter subplot, an exhausted O'Brien cannot settle his baby son Kirayoshi, who calms down only for Worf.
